Generic Domain Names & SEO – Why & When You Must Consider Them

I argue that the use of generic domain names decreases your SEO costs for multiple reasons. Most recently the google algorithm has given domain names greaterweight but it also makes link building through PR and other viral methods easier.
The newly proposed Los Angles Football Stadium is a great example. At such an early stage no one is going to remember the name for the stadium which is going to be “Grand Crossing” . Grand crossing refers to the intersection of the three major counties in Southern CA making the location of the new proposed project geographically ideal.
Now, like me if someone tells you there is new stadium being built in LA and neither you or the other person knows the the name you instead go to a search engine and type in “los angeles football stadium”. What comes up #1 is www.losangelesfootballstadium.com which is owned by the Grand Crossing folks.
I now am familiar with the brand “grand crossing” and I was branded through a generic domain name and SEO. We won’t get into branding and SEO on this post.
